Taking one step at a time

Liza has worked with children, adolescents, and adults for many years, supporting people through a range of emotional, behavioural, and psychological challenges. While her early career focused primarily on young people within educational settings, her practice now supports individuals across all stages of life.

Over the years, Liza has learned that every person's story is unique. Regardless of the challenges someone may be facing, she believes that growth, understanding, and positive change are possible when people are provided with the right support, guidance, and opportunities to build on their strengths.

Her approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and the belief that lasting progress is achieved not through dramatic leaps, but through small, manageable steps taken over time.

Because there is always hope, there are always possibilities, and there is always a next step forward.

Why Climbing Ladders?

During one particular counselling session with a young primary school student, we ended up discussing the game of Snakes and Ladders and how we hated the snake just before 100 but loved the ladder at number 24 that takes you all the way into the 80s. This metaphor resonated with both of us. The hope that springs when you climb a ladder, but also the understanding that even when you slide down a snake, there is always another ladder just around the corner.

Our logo truly represents what Liza believes in - particularly the importance of ensuring the first step is within reach and recognising that meaningful progress often comes from taking small steps, one step at a time.

Liza ....

Liza has worked in education and psychology for many years, supporting people through a wide range of challenges and life experiences. She began her career as a teacher before retraining as a Registered Psychologist, combining her passion for learning with her desire to help people navigate life's ups and downs.

A highlight of her teaching career was helping establish a specialist school for students who were struggling to thrive in mainstream education. It was the resilience, strengths, and stories of these young people that inspired her to study psychology.

Today, Liza works with children, adolescents, and adults from a variety of backgrounds, supporting people with emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges, life transitions, and personal growth. She also provides psychometric and diagnostic assessments to help individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their support needs.

Liza believes in the importance of hope, practical strategies, and taking one step at a time. When she is not working, she enjoys travelling, exploring new places, searching for new ideas, and spending time with the people who matter most.
